The military radio operator has long been the “unsung hero” of untold wars. The cry “I need comms [communications],” resonated across battlefields since the invention of the radio. The First Special Service Force (FSSF) radio operator using his BC1000 is but one example of the intrepid signalers ensuring the needs of commanders at all levels were conveyed in times of need in peace, conflict and war.
